The Fate of Cove
Greetings to Members of the Royal Guard.
Last week, I approached you all about the unusual Inquisative Degree I received, one which I was not allowed to tell you the details of. Well, on Friday night I was finally able to summon you all, and tell you the details.
It seemed the City of Cove in Felucca, due to years of neglect and lack of upkeep, developed severe foundation degredation. Half a dozen repair workers were to be dispatched, however being in Felucca they were afraid for their safey. The Royal Guard was asked to help protect these workers, and allow them to work and finsh the repairs which would take roughly 25 minutes.

However, what I did not expect was the Escaped Convict, Julious Dryden, to organize his followers in Felucca Cove and inform them of our plans, and organize them to defeat us, worse yet, he got the word out fast!

Well, I did expect this, so I gave the Royal Guard a few pointers about Felucca and useful spells, then lead them off to the worksite located under Cove, with a small necessary pitstop in Nujel'm Felucca.

I honestly did not know how many Royal Guard came until I saw them spread out!

Nobody before has seen the catacombs under Cove, but they did see that I was
able to set up a few defensive measures, and Julious Dryden and his followers
found the traditional entrance to the catacombs were blocked by combination
doors, floor traps, and barricades. This gave me time to spread the Royal Guard
out, and give everyone an idea of the best location for them. Several members
were assigned to stay with the construction workers and heal them if they get
hurt, and kill those that wish them harm.

I honestly expected many things tonight, but what I saw was nothing as i expected.
The Royal Guard were very organized and prepared, while the followers of Chaos
found themselves feriouslly upset they could not reach us instantly - and began
attacking one another! Several Royal Guard were confused at first, thinking
brethren snuck in from behind to deal with them, but sure enough as they got
closer it was clear their hostilities simply made them lash out to one another...perhaps
that's the inherit problem with Chaos?
Not to say that the Royal Guard had no troubles though - many of those with the Royal Guard turned out to be with Chaos themselves, and begun to tear down the barriers that protected us! Several dared to try and attack, and found themselves outnumbered and soon dead. A few tried to kill the workers, and also found themselves looking down at their own bodies in teh afterlife.

I was informed from the Head Supervisor that we were down to ten minutes needed
for full repairs.

The barriers began to fall, and the Royal Guard took up arms directly with the enemies. As those with Dryden slipped through the crowd, I made my way to the repair site.

It seemed only two repair workers were still alive! Mages quickly hid them as they worked, while others tried to kill them. Thankfully, the Royal Guard were quick to dispatch those attacking, and healed the workers.

In a breathtaking finish, Morris the Contractor was still standing at the end!
Cove's Foundation was saved, the Royal Guard prevailed!

A Moongate was quickly opened back to Nujel'm Felucca, where another gate was taken back to the castle.

When asked what would have happened if we failed, I gave them the following
details, learned from a few members of Dryden's forces -- First, the City of
Cove would have been without any guards to protect the citizens for the rest
of the month. Second, the buildings would have been set on fire while they were
plundered of their riches. Third, with the approximate value of 500,000 gold
Dryden would have stolen from the Cove Bank, Evil Mage Lords and possibly Juka
would have been hired this very night to invade Skara Brae and another city.
Since the Royal Guard prevailed, the city of Cove in Felucca is still safe to travel to, and Dryden will have to rely on donations from his followers to contract the Evil Mages, Juka, and whatever he wants to attack another city. Second, we have proven that The Royal Guard is stronger than many would have believed, its brethren work together better than we first beleived, and that Dryden may have supporters, but they are to - how can I say - chaotic - to be reliable.
Congradulations to the Royal Guard for outstanding work this night, know that your actions have crippled Dryden's forces quite well, and we will deal with what little damage he has done very soon!
