I will create a Murder Mystery, with Archimedes painted as the main culprit. I will drop clues around the land in hopes that players will show up for the events - which will be Trials at the Yew Court instead of gatherings at the Castle. "Rares" in this event will be to players that have put time into the event and found clues to prove the innocents of Archimedes. The only monster fights I plan on are those for players to encounter and endure when seeking clues.
GM Setup for duration of the events :
(280 767 0 Trammel) This Jail Cell is for Archimedes. Please do what you can so that Archimedes can TALK through the door, but nobody can open it. Maybe put sparkly magic on the door to show that it's Magically Locked. (Talked to Zilo about a static Energy Field ) There will be times that Archimedes gets sent to his jail cell and players can go talk to him. A blue book labeled "Magic Journal" will be locked down, which will have a blue book at the Office of the Royal Guard for the players to keep updated throughout the event.
(355 895 0 Trammel) This is a neat Courtoom, however it's too spread out. It is possible at all to move the Judge and Witness Desk to the NORTH a few tiles, so that players in the seats can at least see Archimedes/Judge ? If not, we need to set up a comm system. I will have all the crystals ready just in case.
(3466 872 0 Trammel) Make this door unopenable for the duration of the events.
(355 890 0 Trammel) Make these doors unopenable. Construct that invisible barrier along the short wall around the courtoom so people can not teleport over the wall.
It's a courtroom, one that never got used before that will be used for 2 events. I could use a Gavel on the Judge table (wasn't there one ingame?) and maybe some other pretty stuff. I can use this more in the future.
(4568 921 20 Trammel) This is the scene of the Murder, which will be the place the players start looking for their clues. First, can we get a house sign? "Residence of Jorlorn". As for the Alter room, create and lock down blood Tiles, all over.Lock down Item #s 7400, #7391, #7389, #7402 on the ground please. Llock down a red hued Executioners Axe "A bloodstained Axe" I need to get the "Spellbook of Archimedes" from my office and lock down here.
2649 2195 4 T : Lock down a portrait on the east wall. Make a Word Activated Teleporter here, say "coffin" (answer to a riddle given in this event) will teleport to 2646 2195 -20. At that area, fix the Ladder to teleport them back up to the office and fix that one black tile if possible.
2625 2291 -40 : Create a wall here - please use item #s 4666, 4667, 4668. On the wall put that "magic door" (Item #7932 ). Folks need to say the magic work "shadow" (another clue I'll plant in a chest in the tunnels, most likely WAY on the other side) to get inside. Inside, just place me some tables, chairs, the glass blowing add-ons, etc. Theme : The Assassin's Secret Den for poisoning daggers, making poison, etc. (Some of the item #'s I found for neat stuff : 3659 3622 2854 3092 3093 6237 6203
2755 2049 -20 : Create some silver chest, brown chest, barrels etc. I'll pick one to hide the book in with the clue to get through the magic door.
I exist but sometimes ignored.
I am forced to live on the floor.
I cast an image, though dark,
and follow my owner and leave no mark.
I disappear when the sun sets
And never be caught in any nets.
I will always forever lie,
Can you tell me what am I?
This is what I need to stick around for the next two events - After the event the ONLY thing I see needing removed is the Murder Scene. I will LOVE to use this Assassin's Secret Den again in the future, and can easily change the password.
Event 5 : The Trial of Archimedes
Starting Location Castle : 1329 1624 50
Courtroom : 355 895 0
Jail Cell : 280 767 0 where the event ends.
EM Setup :
| Name | Role / Etc |
| Archimedes the Old | The Commander of Royal Guard - Suspect of Murder |
| Judge Julious Dryden (there is a Dryden in U5, problem?) | Yew Judge, and Prosecutor of the Trial. |
| * Judge Dryden gets most of the dialogue, if the EM helper wants the "easy" job he gets to be Archimedes. | |
Monsters to Spawn:
NONE
Current Event Setup :
Judge Julious Dryden is created, give him Pageboy hair, default white, to look
like those judges in the 'old days'. Fancy clothes and such for a Judge. He
needs two Hirelings, renamed by Zilo as "Guards" and dressed as guards.
They are to follow the Judge around for most of the event. That's it!
Procedure:
Archimedes the Old summons the Royal Guard to the Castle. He will tell
everyone that there since there hasn't been anything important as of late, that
he will be heading an expedition to some of the ruins in Ilshenar, and doesn't
expect many problems. As Archimedes is talking, Judge Julious Dryden will walk
into the room with his two guards, and teleport up onto the throne and transfer
in his guards.
Archimedes will welcome the Judge, and will be rudely cut off from talking and demand that Archimedes be silent, as he is under arrest for murder! Then he will demand the guards to take him to Jail. Archimedes will use the lighting bolt effect and disappear.
Judge will then turn to the crowd, and inform them that their Commander of the Royal Guard has been sent to the Yew Prison, and as of this moment the Royal Guard is under his command. He invites everyone to join in the trial of Archimedes, and ask them to do their best to either defend him, or help prosecute him during the course of the Trial which is expected to run over a week.
He will then step into the crowd, and create a moongate to the Yew Prison (and Zilo will perma-nail it down since following events will not start here) to (371 908 0 Trammel)
Players will go into the Courtoom, and the preliminary trial begins.
Clues are going to be given out for players through the following dialogue,
and the event ends here.
Dryden : Archimedes -- where were you last night in the hours involving the
afternoon and evening.
Archimedes : I left after lunch to travel to the Ethereal Fortress to make sure
that the mess created a few weeks ago was cleaned up. It was, so I traveled
back home.
Dryden : You traveled you say? How ?
Archimedes : By foot.
Dryden : You are a sorcerer though, one of the best - why did you spend a large
part of the day walking?
Archimedes : Well, often I do enjoy walking, as I can run into something interesting,
but even if I wanted to travel with magic, I am afraid I could not that day.
Dryden : You could not? Why is that?
Archimedes : I absentmindedly left my spellbook at my office, and only discovered
it as I was leaving the Moonglow bank and going to the moongate. It was no matter
to me, it was a beatifull day and a walk is good for my health.
Dryden : So you left your book at your office you say?
Archimedes : Yes, that is correct.
Dryden : And where is your book now?
Archimedes : *blush* Well, I am not too sure to be honest, I came noon the next
day, a few hours before noon to be exact and could not find it that day, and
I tore my office inside out.
Dryden : A few hours before noon? Why did the trip take so long?
Archimedes : Well, I did stop at an Inn on the way back from the Fortress, however
I found it vacant, but it did have beds, so I spent the night.
Dryden : Was anyone with you? Anyone that can callaborate your story?
Archimedes : I am afraid not, I was alone the entire trip.
Dryden : I see. And you say you left for your trip on Moonglow Island?
Archimedes : That is correct.
Dryden : Did you stop to see a Jorlon ?
Archimedes : ... who ?
Dryden : Jorlon.
Archimedes : I am not familiar with that name.
Dryden : You are not? Why, he's the Mage Guildmaster of Moonglow
Archimedes : Oh! You mean "Snap", I am sorry, I haven't refered to
him as Jorlon in over a month. No, I did not stop to meet him.
Dryden: * shuffles papers, looks over things, gets up out of his seat, uses
context menu to get guards to follow him. * Archimedes, Jorlorn was found murdered
in his home early this morning. You are the prime suspect as your spellbook
was found at the scene of the crime, and as you have told me, there are no witnesses
to collaborate your story.
Archimedes : What? This is absurd! I would never murder Snap, no matter....
Dryden : Silence! As I was saying, you are the prime suspect. You are hereby
banned from using magic whatsoever, and to remain here in Jail until the end
of this trial. Thanks to your many years of dedication to the Kingdom, I don't
think you will try anything foolish, but if you do yoru verdict will be pronounced
guilty without a full investigation. Guards - take him to his cell.
(Archimedes lighting bolt out of view, and he's done for the night)
The Judge finally adresses the crowd.
Royal Guard, I know you served Archimedes as Commander of the Royal Guard, however, as I stated earlier I have taken up this position for the duration of this Trial. Due to the purpose of the Royal Guard, I am going to depend on you for your investigative skills as I lack any Detectives on staff at this time. I invite you all that wish to help prove who is responsible for this gristly murder to investigate the Murder Scene, located on Moonglow Island.
We will reconvene in approximately a week or less, I will depend on you to provide evidence that could prove the Innocence, or guilt, of Archimedes. Thank you for your time, and goodnight.
Event Ends.
Pretty different Eh?
Well, now the players need to go FIND the murder scene. Archimedes will be in his jail cell for 30 minutes to talk to Players.
However, here's the setup done by Archimedes right before the event or right after.
1.) The Spellbook on display at the office for the past 24 hours now gets moved
to the murder scene.
2.) A bedroll will be locked down at 4564 899 15, along with some food, lantern,
oil flask, food, drink. Bottles renamed "empty bottle" maybe. Show
'someone' was here.NOTE : The bedroll CAN be used and picked up! Whoever gets
here first gets to pick it up. If it is renamed, it will go back to the name
of "Bedroll" after they use it. *Zilo said he can make unusable bedrolls.
There will also be a book here :

This can be drank by anyone - my plan is to hand over some Royal Guard boots to whoever will tell me they found some Peculiar Poison in Yew. Also, write in the book something about how he had to search the woods in Delucia as he lost his ring.
Journal
It's been a very busy week, I have never traveled so much in such a short amount of time. I must travel to Moonglow tomorrow to have a meeting with someone that wishes to remain anonymous. He has stated that money is no object, which is the only reason I forego a relaxing weekend. The Guildmaster won't tell me our client's name, but has told me he's a very high ranking member of the Royal Court, which is very interesting.
So now all these folks have a week to find the clues. Questions will be asked at the next event, and answres to the ones above may give Royal Guard Boots.
So now for the folks that do the 'extra' credit. These clues are harder to find of course, and will be used in the 6th Event for the uber items.
(6111 3051 15) Trammel (T2A) : A book :
Extracting Snake Venom
An experienced Veterinarian can, with proper precautions, extract the venomous poison of a snake so that it can be applies in making curing agents, or poisons.
There are some health risk involved with the procedure - the slightest wrong cut can lead to bacterial infection of the venom when extracting from the snake, or worse, premature infection upon the Veterinarian. For lesser poisoning creatures this isn't much of a concern, however if one is attempting to devenomize a Giant Serpent, they could soon find themselves in need of a healer.
the Veterinarian's task should never be one to kill the snake while extracting the venom, nor severing the duct from wench the poison is from the glands to the fangs. Impairing the snake from successfully capturing prey would lead to it's death, and ultimately, a lower population of the snakes.
The more environmentally conscious veterinarians will perform the devenomization process on snakes or serpents that are already showing signs of being well-fed, so that they won't go hungry while creating new venom. When a sufficient specimen is found, a good paralyze spell will immobilize the snake, while a serpent mouthpiece is inserted before the creature will regain the ability to move. With the mouth propped open, a small bottle or specially lined pouch is placed under the fangs, and the venom is extracted.
Snakes that are devenomed will possess it's fangs, however fangs are periodically shed and replaced over the course of time. Those that find discarded serpent fangs are advised to handle with care, as often residual venom can be inside the fangs' ducts, and can poison you nonetheless.
There is also a bracelet renamed "Serpent Oral Brace" item #1108311471 locked down and a box with a feather renamed to "Silver Serpent Fang" #1108310367, and an "Assassin's Dagger" here to take Item #1109300452
5321 757 -20 T A Box with another Serpent Oral Brace item #1108831249, and a jug of wine renamed to "Venom Sack" Item # 1108830743. Since this is a very hard to reach place, there will be an "Assassin's Dagger" here to take! Item #1109306470
This is an obscure place as well, and not easy to reach. Perhaps another book here :
Mage Guildmaster Contract
Clientelle met at Moonglow Docks, late at night. Face could not be seen. He was dressed well and looked kept, as if he lived near here. He agreed to pay over 500,000 gold for the death of xxxxxxxxxx in his home within 48 hours, but has requested it look not like an assassination but a savage lynching. Agreed it would be possible, but had to travel to Terra Sanctum to replenish our supply of Poison.
2625 2291 -40 : The Assassin's Hideout.
In here I'll have some of the stuff used to make the Peculiar Poison, which is nothing more than Silver Serpent Venom. I will NOT be making any references to where the other two secret spots are, nor that they use Silver Serpents - I don't want one person getting all three clues easily. However, the book in here will read
It is most unsettling that our latest client is a member of the Royal Court, and has asked us to kill someone that will no doubt raise some curiosity of the others in the higher levels of government. His price was very high, and I was unable to refuse to accept, however I fear that this creates a great liability towards our organization. He could very well use his power and or position to try and hamper our business, and drive us from Buc's Den.
We feel it is in our best interest to kill our client, in public view of others, so that others will realize the Shadow Assassins are not to be trifled with, and maintain our reputation in our profession.
Event 7 : The Trial of Archimedes Part 2 of 2
The Entire Shard has had a few days to gather clues on who exactly murdered
Jornor in a most bloody fashion. Archimedes is the prime suspect, and has been
jailed. It's up to the Royal Guard to give Testimony now.
GM Setup for the Event :
Event 6: The Trial of Archimedes Part 2
Courtroom : 355 895 0

| Mysterious Man | Assassin Guildmaster |
Monsters to Spawn:
NONE
Current Event Setup :
Characters same from last time.
However, it wil flow better if Vincent plays both Archimedes the Old and the
Mysterious Man. (Unless I can get a third EM to help, but not going to rely
on it.)
Plan B : An NPC "Archimedes" is fixed in the Defeandants Chair to be a sole visual Place Holder. Can be swapped out with the real one when time is right.
Zilo can be the Baliff again if he wants.
The Mysterious Man can be someone in a Hooded Shroud of Shadows but tinted darker. He holds an Assassin's Dagger that is Deadly Poisoned.
Procedure:
Invitation to all to come to the Castle where a gate portal is already fixed to the Courtoom.
Inside, Judge Dryden is alone. He will address everyone that a secret door was found in Archimedes' cell, so he has been transported to a more secure prison and will not be attending his own trial as they fear he will attempt an escape. (Or see Plan B)
When folks show up, the Judge will explain point blank the rules
1.) Nobody is to be talking during the trail excessivly.
2.) The Judge will ask the audience for those that know information on SPECIFIC
topics; anyone that knows the answer is to simply say "AYE" - do NOT
shout out anything else as only those that say "AYE" will be called
to testify.
3.) When on the Stand, witnesses will only answer questions they are asked,
and in a prompt manner. Any information spoken not related to the question will
be dismisses, and the witness dismissed.
4.) Anyone being a nuisance in the courtroom will be escorted away, to "the
"Other" Jail" (scare tactic)

2.) SOmethign to this
Mage Guildmaster Contract
Clientelle met at Moonglow Docks, late at night. Face could not be seen. He was dressed well and looked kept, as if he lived near here. He agreed to pay over 500,000 gold for the death of Jornor in his home within 48 hours, but has requested it look not like an assassination but a savage lynching. Agreed it would be possible, but had to travel to Terra Sanctum to replenish our supply of Poison.
Judge makes statements :
SO! It seems Archimedes did contract an Assassin to kill Jorlorn, and the reason
the area is so bloody is because he requested it. Why, I was afraid of this.
Afraid indeed.
Question EIGHT to the Audience
"Does anyone know the name of this Assassin, or where he is so we may summon
him for questioning?
Nobody knows.
That's when the Assassin shows up from the crowd.
Assassin will walk into the court, and Judge Dryden will panic summoning the Balif
Assassin : Be Calm! I am here to give Testimony
Judge Dryden : NO! You may not give Testimony, you are under arrest and going
to jail with Archimedes, BALIF!
Assassin : Balif, he did state I was to be summoned
Judge : NO! This is a Trick! Take him away
By now the crowd will start screaming for protection to Archmedes if he is there
or not. Maybe they got smart finally and realize that the Judge also fits the
Description for the Assassins Client.
Balif : Perhaps we should listen
Judge : This is an outrage, his Testimoney will NOT be recognized by the court!
Assassin : Good people of the court, I shall adress you none the less.
(Judge is running around calling on Guards, bickering with the balif)
Assassin WILL stand next to Archimedes if he is there
I was contracted by a member of the Royal Court to kill the Mage Guildmaster.
Unlike other contracts, I was ordered to do it with an Executioners Axe, and
real bloody like. This member of the Royal Court paid very well, as expected
of anyone in this sort of position. However, we Assassins feel it is our best
interest to intervene on this trial.
Assassin turns to Archimedes
I am sorry old man, but we feel that someoen in the Royal Court contracting
us puts both in a very bad situation, as those in the Royal Court would abuse
their powers and most likely punish our kind for what we did as to protect the
truth.
That's when Judge stops running and goes up to the Assassin
"What are you saying?"
Assassin turns "We don't feel comfortable with that sort of liability"
Assassin does the stabbing motion repeatly and Judge drinks a Deadly Potion
and dies Fast.
Now Judge Logs out, Archemedes logs back in, fake Archi is taken away and live archi wakes up.
Assassin is talking during this time
"As I know many of you bright slueths realize, Dryden, Judge of the Royal
Court, is the one who contacted me. The royal Guard goes where they are needed
and are under the order of Archimedes, who has never been a problem to us. We
will not allow Someone as corrupt as Dryden to gain control of the Royal Guard
as was his plans, and be able to not only keep the Britian Guards breathing
down our necks, but the ROyal Guard as well.
Then he turns to Archimedes
You do realize though, now you are in my debt so to speak.
Archimedes : As much as I hate to say it, it seems so
The assassin leaves in a smooth exist.
Archimedes gets up, and thanks EVERYONE for their help in proving his innocence. Chit Chat it up
Event over.
