Here are some scattered books around a campfire, and Journal by Archimedes that he has just now discovered that Julious Dryden has constructed this elaborate distraction as to draw him away from the Royal Guard in an attempt to finalize his plans! He can't find a way off the beach, and is studying hard to create an exit to the west. He ask any that find their way here to make their way back to the BNN Reporters House in Britain and post EXACTLY the following "The Blackberry Pie was a Distraction, Archimedes the Old is safe!" on the bullitin board so that the word can get out. He promises that he will be safe, and will remain in hiding as to let Dryden think he is still abononded on the isle. Thanks the Royal Guard for finding him, and promises to reward some of them next week.

Procedure :

After the Town Criers send everyone to the Castle, Judge Julious Dryden appears to mock the Royal Guard for being blind sheep. He states that he is fed up that Royal Guard has been foiling his plans as of late, Partisans of Chaos are not working hard enough to gather resources for his master plan, and continues to support the ideas of Chaos.. He knows this is what's best for everyone, therefor has gotten rid of Archimedes so that he can finalize his big plans. The Royal Guard is "Encouraged" to seek him out instead of trying to save the cities, and through searching they hopefully will see the truth of chaos, and stop being his little blind sheep.

He then will tell all the Partisans of Chaos that they can now finish gathering the resources he needs to finalize the last stage of his plan, which he will not reveal due to the plethora of blind followers of Archimedes.

Event Ends, and they players can begin the search. If we didn't burn up an hour and a half, I can hand out Sashes "Partisans of Chaos"

The Royal Guard now will be forced to learn where Archimedes' office is located, as they go there to start the Mystery. Dryden can open a gate there if enough people don't know.

Hovering down below they find the Wind Spirit Oracle placed here by Zilo.

Sooner or later they will get on that Archimedes loved Pie - Everyone brings him pie and soon someone will no doubt go looking for Pies or say it to the Oracle.

So, here goes Vincent's Setup :

4303 925 20 : In Archimede's House :

I am very proud of the Royal Guard on how they handled themselves so far against Julious Dryden and his Partisans of Chaos.

Skara Brae is now under some protection of Paladins thanks to the incompetence of Dryden's followers in killing the Paladin Captain after 15 minutes. The Ethereal Warriors have extended a strong assistance in Magencia, thanks to the Royal Guard killing the spider infestation in their fortress in only seven minutes.

Now the Royal Guard is trying to figure out what is the Three-Part master plan that Dryden has formulated. If exposed, it will force him to acquire almost double the resources he thinks he needs now. Partisans of Chaos have been bursting in my office in an attempt to learn my Three-Part Plan as well, which also will force me to require more resources.

I think about kicking Dryden's followers out of my office, but at the same time I want to show them that the way of the Royal Guard is compassionate and just. I hope they soon realize their mistake in supporting Dryden; I tell them all when they are ready, I will take their sash and give them one of the Royal Guard.

I know only one thing that can put myself at ease through all of this, some nice fresh pie.

4392 1068 Trammel Moonglow Baker

I am getting very uncomfortable with Archimedes' patronage. This old man is in control of all the Royal Guard yet spends all his recreational time it seems in my shop eating pies. I can only fathom how much of the gold given to me is rightfully his, as opposed to how much has been pilfered from the Royal Guard Treasury.

In an attempt to keep my ethics intact, I have told Archimedes that I am out of pies today, and perhaps he should seek some in another city. I even told him I heard rumors of a Blackberry pie maker --in an instant he was off as if he knew what I was even talking about.

Good riddance.

1450 1617 20 Trammel : Baker Store in Britain

Book :

I have just recently hired an apprentice in hopes to get some much needed help to satisfy current demands and reward myself with some time off for pursuing my hobby of underwater basket weaving. It seems baskets are quite rare in our land, and there's only so few places that our citizens can get one. I plan on trying to get one this weekend if I can get away.

The new kid I hired isn't too bad, however his pallet and preferences are much different than own. The food taste quite different; nothing bad --just different. Also, he does a most remarkable job of cleaning up the kitchen when he is done. Actually, you would think he never even cooked on days he works.

I have already gotten a few compliments on the new flavor that I seem to be selling out of my shop. I will admit I feel a bit insulted that this new baker seems to be doing a better job than myself, however, as long as the people of Britain are happy, I have more free time and I can get to work on finding myself a basket to pursue my extracurricular interest. .

I realize now that I have spread myself too thin in my job, as customers are requesting the food they get be made by the new baker rather than my own! They claim they mean no disrespect or insult, as it's just a new welcomed change, however it still bothers me that my creations are no longer the primary taste of the town.

When I returned today, I found dozens of cakes and pies stacked up on the table, and it seems a big party is being coordinated at Skara Brae Community Center. The apprentice said they preferred his food over the Jhelom bakers they normally order from. What's worse, is I have yet to grab a basket in Nujel'm, whereas other citizens wake up quite early in the morning and always beat me to it. It seems I can't succeed at anything.

My chef is gone today, catering a party over in Jhelom. While sitting in my shop trying to reevaluate my life, Archimedes the Old came in here today, flustered up more than I have ever seen him before. He was babbling on about something called a blackberry pie, and asking if I knew anything. I told him I didn't know, but suggested he talk to my new Chef who is getting great reviews from all over the land. He didn't catch my thick layer of sarcasm, thanked me and ran out the door. Foolish old man.

I am considering selling my shop to my apprentice, and moving on with my life. I hear the town is under attack, perhaps something in guard duty....

615 2121 0 Skara Brae Trammel

Invasion or not, we had to hold a little party for the local farmers for their hard work and dedication this past spring. We normally would have gotten food from the local tavern, however they have been using old supplies since getting anything fresh into this town has been a bit troublesome.

The local banker told me that there's a new baker in Britain, one that he swears made the best cookies he has ever had. We have contracted him to do some catering this weekend.

The food was fantastic! We are thankful there are a few Paladins around the city that could take some time out from their duties and stand by the doors for our little party - everything went off without a hitch. The baker was not only swamped for request for food, but also for information on how he did such a great job. He ran out only once, but was able to run out for about five minutes, and return with much more food! We definitely will recommend him to anyone looking for some catering.

While cleaning up the Community Center, Archimedes the Old stopped by, a bit too late for the festivities. He claimed he was unaware of any party, but was most interested in the baker. I was unable to point him in the right direction, but he said it was no matter as he did have a good idea where to look next.

Book

An old man came in here today, wearing a mystical looking robe. Beside him he had a younger gentleman, and asked if he could start working at my shop in an effort to learn a trade and keep himself out of trouble. Well, Jhelom was an easy town to feed, and I also made food for Skara Brae and always had enough residual income and time to enjoy life. I gave my sincere apologies, and recommended he find work in Britain where I hear the baker is constantly busy.

Today an old woman came in here, arguing about not having enough cheesecake. I admit I never heard of making cake out of cheese, the idea in itself is quite absurd. However, she swears to me up and down and left to right that if I was to invent cheesecake like she describes, I would be the richest man in all the land. Since milk does come from cheese, perhaps I'll go get some fresh supplies from Delucia later.

Today started out normal as any other. I began work on the weekly order for Skara Brae when one of the councilmen showed up at my shop. He began small talk about the weather, the town invasions, the Royal Guard and some Chaos goons fighting all over the city. He then stopped me short when I started to mix my ingredients, and informed me there was to be no need for my services this week in Skara Brae! I asked if the invasion was that severe, and he admitted it wasn't. However, it seems a new chef has started in Britain, and everyone is enjoying his food. I scolded him for beating around the bush with me, and asked him to let me know twenty hours in advance for any cancellation and demanded restitution for the wasted materials I already had placed out before me.

I have learned this new baker is the one I sent away roughly a week ago! What's worse, is I don't see some regular patrons at a day or two now. I look out my window, and see them going towards the moongate at the times they normally come buy food, and return with bags full of food. No doubt, I let a good thing slip away from me, and now I find myself with more free time yet less gold to enjoy it.

Today I have no work, where I should have plenty. It seems the new baker in Britain is so good, a very large order was placed from the local Tavern. Most of the city was invited to sample his new foods, all except me. I think the tavern keeper didn't wish to hurt my feelings, however not inviting me hurt quite a bit. Why, what if I wanted to see what all the commotion was about?

As I started to sample some of the finest Yew Wine I had stored under the counter for such a dull evening, the new Commander of the Royal Guard shows up at my shop. I jumped up, and in my inebriated state, did my best to offer him samples of my goods. He knocked me on the head, muttered a few words and I was instantly sober! He then asked about something called a Blackberry Pie. Well, just like the cheesecake, I told him I never heard of any sort of berries that are black, much less a blackberry pie. He looked quite distraught, and then asked if I knew the whereabouts of this new chef that came in from Britain. I pointed to the tavern, where it was now much quieter than before and told him to look there.

1452 3770 Trammel Jhelom

The folks here have begun to complain about the lack of new items on my menu which has been the industry standard for almost seven years! I tell them I can't very well invent new food and drinks to put on the menu. Well, being stuck on a remote island means it's not like they have very many choices, oh woe is them!

Someone brought me a few muffins and a cake today, which looks very much like my own but tasted so different when I tried it! I was happy to see the town baker has tried new things, but I was informed it comes from a baker in Britain, not our own! I may leave my waiters to their duties while I check out this baker in the afternooon.

I have checked the cost of shipping food from Britain versus staying with our own baker, and I feel I can make a greater profit selling more good food over selling the average quanity of the same old stuff. However, I need to act fast - it seems some of the cities populance has caught the rumors of this new baker and are leaving town around meal time. If I am starting to lose business, I am positive the town baker is as well.

I am busy trying to prepare for tonights party! I am holding a warriros feast here in the Tavern, and having the Britain baker cater. I heard he did good things in Skara Brae, so I feel confidant he will do well. I plan on announcing my Tavern's contract with the new baker to supply us with his bread and sweets; I didn't invite the baker as to not cause a scene. I can only hope he takes the hint and improves his own cooking. If he does improve, I'll gladly return to him again.

As I finished cleaning up my floors tonight, an old man came in looking for the baker. I told him he was but twenty minutes late, that he just took off for the docks. The old man turned to leave, then realized what I said and asked why the docks. I explained just how much food I ordered, which could have been sent through the moongate in several trips, or by boat in one. He asked if I knew where he was going, and I did remember the baker mentioning something about an island. He thanked me, and left.

I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me today, when Julious Dryden came in. I asked him if it was wise to be out and about considering his predicament, however he claimed he had no choice. He explained that in a few days a baker may come through this town, and that I should give him no trouble, and answer all his questions opposite of which I normally would. I found his request most confusing, but agreed to do anything for an old friend and college.

He also warned that soon after the baker visits, the Commander of the Royal Guard will come by as well. I jumped out of my chair and demanded to know why he was coming, but was assured it was just to find the baker, and not confront me about my past. He said whatever answers I gave the baker, give them also to Archimedes.

With that, he waved his hands and he was gone. I swear, one of these days I'll learn how he does that.

While coming back from the Tavern today I was stopped in the street by a young man who smelled just like any baker should. He asked me if I would mind if he could give some of his samples to the Tavern Keeper here, in hopes to establish trade relations. I almost turned and yelled at him I do mind, but then I remembered Dryden's request.

He didn't seem to know I was lying to him, and was thankful for the opportunity to take away some of my very own business on this secluded island. He also asked me what city I think would have the worst of bakers, so that he could push his merchandise into their market as well. I thought of what Dryden said, and began to realize his plans for me, and suggested the isolated city of mages. He did have to stop and swallow for a bit, realizing what I just told him, but thanked me for my help and left. I'll have to thank Dryden, for I surely would have just run him off and still lost business, where now I may lose it for a day or two but the Tavern Keeper will be desperate to come back to me and I may increase my prices.

Just as Dryden said, an old man dressed in purple came in today. I told him that the chef was welcomed to our town by myself, and will be inquiring to sell to the Tavern on the island. Finished up by telling him he set out to try and break into the market at the hidden city of mages. He did give me a mean stare a bit, asking if I knew that their food there was not as bad as any other, but didn't realize I was lying and left.

A young chef came in today, from Britain I think he said. He tried to introduce me to his foods he says he creates, and I must say I was taken aback how good it was. I asked him what he does different than our baker, but he would not say as it's his talent over some of the others. He asked if I could commit my tavern to a contract, but I had to refuse as the local baker has always been kind to me, and I rather not cause any rift between us in case the food didn't come from Britain and I would be forced to crawl back to him.

He said he totally understood, and respects my decision as he would probably have done the same. I served him a drink so there were no hard feelings, and we talked a bit about life in general. He kept fidgeting in his backpack, as if trying to count something, and thanked me for the hospitality but he had to get sailing towards Minoc and then due south to his next destination.

3002 3350 Trammel * TRIVIA QUESTION!!!!

I closed up shop early today since an odd young man came in. He smelled of someone that just came from a bakery, but was much cleaner than any I have seen be fore.. He said he needed Garlic, Ginseng, and Mandrake Root, and as many as he could possibly carry. So thrilled at the large purchase, I asked him his name, to which he replied Vinsent. I shall hit up the Tavern later and enjoy a cool drink to celebrate, and give a toast to this Vinsent.

As I left the Tavern tonight, I saw Vinsent embark on his boat at the docks. I cried out to him that I appreciated his business, and hope the best for his travels.

1573 609 Trammel * TRIVIA QUESTION

Two Boats are here side by side on the shore, one named "Vinsent's Loaf" and the other "The Royal Tear". Inside Vinsent's is some cooking supplies, and it's made unmovable. The Pearl is has a simple book that Archimedes has found Vinsen'ts Boat, and has blocked it in so he will be able to catch him if he double backs.

I have sailed as best I can towards the city I seek, and will go on foot from here. I have high hopes and expectations that this city will be as promising as the baker in Serpents Hold has mentioned!

1397 897 Trammel :

Scatter some food around here, and a journal somewhere

I can see why this city doesn't get very good food as told to me by the Baker I met last night, I can't find the entrance in this blasted maze! When I do, at least I know I have what it takes to get inside. I shall nap here for a bit, and then set out later this afternoon.

5218 175 Trammel :

Vinsent's journal

I finally made it to the City of Wind, however I think that baker in Serpents Hold flat out lied to me. The food here is just as good as mine, and they laughed at me for trying to negotiate a long term contract with them based out of Britain. In the morning I plan on leaving this most depressing city, and will try my luck at the Gargoyle City in Ilshenar, where they tell me they have no bakers at all.

5351 56 Trammel

Our old good friend Archimedes the Old stopped by today, what a surprise! He asked if we saw a young baker by the name of Vinsent, and we informed him of the most peculiar and egotistical man we saw just several hours ago. We told him of his foolish attempt to surpass the work of the Mages of Winds' Bakery, and he agreed as foolish as it sounds, he held onto something wonderful called a Blackberry Pie.

We all stopped laughing for a minute there, as none of us really ever heard of such a thing, but the way Archimedes described it, we all wish we were a bit more considerate to the young baker. Archimedes left in a rush to the Inns to find him, seeing how we honestly didn't know which one he went to.

840 707 Ilshenar

These gargoyles are extremely hard to communicate with - they seem to speak a very broken dialect of our language. There is no baker here in town, yet they have a tavern that sells a few items. I quickly created a batch of food for them to sample, and they spit it out in disgust, saying it was not pure. They are most intelligent beast, as they are the first to realize the truth behind my success.

I have read quite a bit on Ilshenar history while here in the Gargoyle City, and I must admit it's good to be have a mages education so that I can travel here in relative safety and protect myself as needed. In an effort to travel safety, I have begun to polymorph myself into animals. It seems there are a few other 'cities' here in Ilshenar, and I'll travel to them all in hopes to make some profit.

1238 733 Ilshenar

Before I left the Gargoyle city, I polymorphed myself into a bird so not attract the attention of the monsters right outside, and passed by an old mage whom I can't fathom how he managed to survive the trip there.

I am very thankful I can polymorph , as it seems this city is nothing but an encampment occupied by pure savages! They walk around in nothing but a loin cloth, have the whitest of skins, and attack anything foreign that comes into their city - except for birds it seems. I have spent a few hours here now, and don't exactly think these people will be interested in me or my food, so I will take my leave. I plan to go northwest then turn towards Compassion, and then go south to Lakeshire. If the information from the Gargoyle city is right, I may see snow for the first time in my life, too bad I am in such a hurry to stop and enjoy it.

1352 664 Ilshenar : Drop a book and bedroll that's not usable * TRIVIA QUESTION

If I ever see snow again it may be too soon. I didn't realize there was monsters that lived even in the snow. I have set up a small camp, and polymorphed myself into a Polar Bear as not to arouse any trouble. My only real problem is this other Polar Bear nearby that has taken a liking to me. I fear I will not sleep very well tonight.

1200 1127 Ilshenar : A book

I am able to walk in my normal form once again, and talk to the Meers around here. They are a very mysterious yet powerful society, without any material possessions in their few buildings save a few dilapidated pieces of furniture. None of them were interested in food or small talk, and one mage was kind enough to inform me no outsider could offer them anything of interest. I decided to take the road continuing out of town and try my luck at the next city.

837 1006 -9 Ilshenar :

As I walked up to the gates of Mistas, I saw what I believed was a judge standing at the entrance. I thought it was safe, so came out of my polymorphed state.

I soon found myself in this cell, far from feeling safe! The man introduced himself as Judge Julious Dryden, and apologized for treating me so rudely, but assured me that I would be safe while Archimedes the Old would come through the city, and follow a false trail out, at which time I could leave on my free will.

I don't pretend to understand what exactly is going on - I feel as though I am but a pawn in some larger scheme, and even though I should be afraid for my life, I am not. Dryden has confiscated all my reagents from me so that I can't polymorph myself into another animal and escape, so I just sit here and hope he makes good on his word.

I have heard a commotion outside this house - \ the sounds of an old man yelling words of power and explosions has stirred up the town a bit. I heard spells being shot back and forth, then the odd scream of Juka Lord saying to take the prisoner to the cannon. Well, I know I am the prisoner here, and I wasn't taken, so this must be the false trial Dryden spoke of.

Afterwards he did come to my cell, with some food and drink and thanked me for my patience, as if I had any other choice. As I ate, he asked what I thought of the Royal Guard and Blackthorns beliefs on Chaos. I admit, for a man that is supposedly evil and corrupted, Dryden had logic to all he said, and sincerely seems to hope he is making life better for all that support the ideals of Chaos.

He gave me some history of Blackthorn, from his start in the city of Britain within his castle, then how he was corrupted with power and technology and moved to Ilshenar. He was slain just last year, and put to rest at his castle in Felucca. He offered me to rest for the night, and that there was a moongate to the south that I could use to get home, and returned all my reagents plus a check for 20,000 gold for all my troubles.

I thanked him for his unusual hospitality, and will take my leave in the morning. Perhaps I'll give up my baking career and take up philosophy, surely the other bakers will soon realize my secret and I'll be out of business anyhow.

1530 1428 FELUCCA Blackthorns Castle

Book

Lord British has declared the beliefs of Chaos to be detrimental to bringing Order to our fair land. Indeed, we need time to recover from Mondain's damage, but we must not become weak so quickly. Many citizens have credited Lord British as the savior of our land, responsible for bringing forth the stranger from another world to kill Mondain, and now they will follow him blindly to bring stability back to our lives.

Some of us realize that without Mondain's rise to power, many of us would have never discovered our own true potential locked within ourselves. To lay down our swords and be governed by Virtue would make an easier life, however for many of us, that is nothing but a cork in the bottle that holds our spirits.

Lord Blackthorn, another powerful monarch in the land, has established this castle to support the principles of Chaos. He understands and promotes social evolution through surviving hardships and suffering. Lord British doesn't totally dismiss Lord Blackthorns ideals, however says now is the worst time for trying to split our people in two when they have already suffered enough.

Blackthorn agrees, and has asked the Supporters of Chaos to lay low for now and wait till the time is right to rise again. We demanded a way to set ourselves apart, whether it be a article of clothing or insignia, and he has told us to use simply the password "Imperviuma".

Long live Blackthorn, and may chaos make us strong!

Dead Ends

A book in Vesper Baker Shop

I heard rumors that a young baker in Britain is starting to get famous for his creations, and let me tell you I don't want any importation of foodstuffs coming into this city. I have already given enough money to all the major councilmen here in the city, and will request them to keep Vesper safe from all market degredatoin due to that baker.

I have heard word that if the Baker even so much as to try and get into the Vesper market, they will impose upon him a 10% tariff, and 5% import tax. I feel this would do very good for the Vesper community in the long run, as we don't need more money siphoned out of our fair city.

I have alerted my cousin in Nujel'm to prepare for such a similiar catatrophie from occuring.

A book in Nujel'm

My cousin alerted me today to some problems back on main land. It seems the rumors that some of the cities are under attack are true, but I don't particular care about it as none of them came to our aid a few months ago when Shadow Wyrms, Balrons, Golems, and other nasty sort of creatures attacked our beautifull city.

He then continued in something that did take up my interest, as a new baker has been receiving heavy praise and tavernkeeprs are trying to reach him to verify the claims and do business! I have enough issues with no toursim coming to this island, and a stagnant populiation of natives that will never promise me more business. I will go down to the palace in a few hours and see what can be done to ensure that my business will not be threatened by outside influences.

Well, I know next election I'll vote for the "other guy" even if it's a desert ostard. They assure me that our land is a free market enterprise, and boycotting any imports could be illegal, thus they will not stop anyone from cmoing in and ruining what's left of our economy!

I may contact some of my old friends at the Yew brigand camp to deal with this man if he indeed shows up.
