I had an unfortunate incident with the propane heater in my greenhouse. A leak was causing the pilot to burn too much, which caused a toxic air-environment. Even though the house was warm, the air was killing my plants. Some plants I thought were dead actually started coming back, and I made notes below which plants exhibit burn damage.
If that wasn't enough, my door wasn't latched close very well on a freezing night. What plants survived the heater got bit my cold weather. I plan on waiting till spring till I ship anything now.
DUE TO A VERY ODD WINTER -- I WON'T
SHIP ANYTHING NORTH OF ME UNTIL SPRING 'OFFICIALLY' STARTS
If you live near me or in a warmer climate, I will ship.
Cephalotus Australian Pitcher Plant
Very small and slow growing plants, but I have several with leaves and pitchers. I currently grow them in a small pot with one part peat moss and two parts sand, but I will ship them bare root wrapped in sphagnum moss, and provide planting instructions to anyone who may be nervous (like I was when I first received a Cephalotus) about replanting them.
Small plants, averaging 6 months old. Available Now!
US $ 7.00
Dionaea
I only have 'Akuyi Red' ( Red Dragon ) currently available. All plants were in dormancy, but seem to be coming out of early due to warm temperatures in Texas. They have had 3 months so far of low light and cooler temperatures, which is enough. They are one year old, and have a solid rhizome. They can easily be shipped bare-root wrapped in sphagnum without worries.
1 Year Old plants, emerging from dormancy. Available Now!
US $4.00
Drosera
I have D. adalae & D. spathulata. Both of these are good Tropical/Temperate Sundews that can be grown in a terrarium or outside in favorable climates. D. adalae prefers shade over direct sun, or can be grown under 20-40 watts indoors. D. spathulata prefers brighter light, but tolerates 20-40 watts as well. These plants were tissue culture grown, in their second year. Both are shipped bareroot, but I will try to send them in their pots if possible.
1 Year Old plants. Available Now!
US $5.00
Nepenthes
gracilis
Probably
the easiest Nepenthes to grow -- grows tolerable under low florescent
lights, and very well in full sun. Very quick growing upright growing
vine. Green pitchers are complimented with light red spots on the outside
upper half. If you want to start somewhere with Nepenthes, start
here.
Sold out -- New Crop will be ready in the spring.
US $ 5.00
Fresh cuttings to propagate yourself come with 2 leaves. Just stick in
Sphagnum moss & provide plenty of light, and you should have new growth
in about 2-3 months.

Sarracenia
x 'Dixie Lace'
![]() © Plants Delight |
A
great hybrid that grows an average of 12
inches tall and 15 inches wide, somewhat similar to S. psittacina's
growth habit. Flowers in the spring are maroon-red. A very vigorous
grower; seems to grow pitchers in more abundance than other Sarracenia.
(S. leucophylla x wherryi) x (S. psittacina x purpurea) They received heater damage, but are showing new leaf growth. US $9.00 |
Gorgeous
hybrid created by Alan Hindle in 1985; named after his wife. Young plants
are nothing special -- green pitchers with yellow and white hoods. As
they mature, the pitchers turn burgundy with white and yellow blotches.

Many got hurt with heater damage, but are showing some new
leaves.

x 'Ladies in Waiting'

Another
great variety that screams with beautiful color. Upright
pitchers get up to 24 inches tall. The mouths are bright red with
white 'freckles'' near the hoods. Spring
bloomer with maroon-red flowers. (S. leucophylla x (S. rubra x S.
psittacina) Only half got hurt by heater damage, the better half is in good shape. US $9.00 |
Utricularia
livida

Very
simple Terrestrial Sub-Tropical Bladderwort to grow. Small white
flowers with a slight hint of purple. It can quickly become
an invading weed in bog-gardens or planters, so you may not want to
buy too much. US $ 5.00 for two 35mm Film Canisters. They did receive some heater damage, but look fine. |
Miscellaneous Items:
SuperThrive I have started conducting some experiments with Superthrive and young Venus Fly Traps, but I got plenty to spare. One 35mm Film Canister for US $2.00 Check out what I'm doing with it here.
Sales Terms:
If you see something you like, e-mail me. I will take a picture of the best available plants with a digital camera and send them back to you via e-mail or by posting them to this website. This way you know exactly what you are buying (and you won't be surprised when you receive your order). If you like what you see, I'll give you an address to send payment.
For payments, I can take Visa/MC thru Paypal, or you can mail me a Money Order, Cashier's Check, or Personal Check. If sending cash, please send it registered mail.
Shipping charges will be determined for each individual order, and I will provide it as soon as an order is confirmed. The best estimate I can give you is that it's going to be the cost of postage at the mail office, plus $2-3 for the packaging. All orders will be shipped out on Monday or Tuesday, providing there are no mail holidays are adverse weather conditions. So far, the shipping has averaged $3.50
As for shipping methods, I have received plants in better condition (and quicker) with the United States Postal Service. Ever since Fed Ex and UPS have been getting bigger (and sloppier), the USPS got their act together and now are very efficient. I plan to use them, but if you prefer, I can use someone else.
Once you receive the plants, contact me! I do need to know if they are in poor condition, or banged up, or that they got to you O.K.
I also entertain any good plant trades. Check my Growing List and see if I don't have something. Also, I collect Shot-Glasses (currently have 78), and I'm always looking to expand that collection.
